20 Feb The importance of people and of looking after the environment
The strength of our company, located in the mountains and not readily accessible from main roads, lies in the people that work for it. Carlo Scandola, its founder, chose to set it up in his birthplace, Bosco Chiesanuova, at 1,100 metres a.s.l. to prevent the most dynamic and vital forces from leaving the small mountain village to look for work in the city. Scandola Mobili is a big family for which people are what really counts and each person wants to do his very best. The best way to express the family atmosphere that prevails within our company is through the care we put into making our furniture.
This profound sense of belonging is the driving force behind the Management’s ongoing commitment to create a healthy workplace where everyone is offered the best circumstances possible. Only natural spruce wood is employed in production while all the processes are performed in compliance with high health protection standards for all our workers. The coating phase is particularly delicate because it typically exposes workers to chemical agents. We at Scandola use an entirely water-based cycle which is safe for people and for the environment as well.
We take environmental protection very seriously. Our premises are located just outside the Lessinia Natural Park which is unique in its kind and rich in wild plants and animals. This position motivates us to pay particular attention to limit emissions of harmful substances into the air and to make sure our company has the least possible impact on its natural surroundings. For example, our scrap wood is never thrown away because we recycle it to heat our company naturally. We have also covered our roofs with photovoltaic panels to guarantee we use a clean source of electricity. These are just two examples of the care our company takes of the land it is located on, a place full of natural assets that must be preserved at all costs.
Love of nature, eco-sustainability and taking care of people: these are the principles that urge us every day to make our furniture lovingly and to constantly look for new materials and processes that respect nature.
